Delta Concrete installs foundation membranes on Calgary foundations—including dimpled drainage membranes such as DELTA® foundation wrap—as part of the foundation stage, before backfill closes access to the walls.
Foundation Membrane Installation
A foundation membrane is a sheet or coating applied to the exterior face of the foundation wall below grade. Its job is to keep soil moisture from sitting directly against the concrete and to give water a route downward toward the drainage at the footing.
Membranes are installed once the walls are complete and before backfill. After the ground goes back, the only way to reach them again is to dig—so the timing and coverage matter.
Delta Wrap / Foundation Drainage Membrane
Many Calgary homes use a dimpled plastic drainage membrane, commonly called Delta Wrap after the DELTA® product line. The dimples hold the sheet off the wall and create an air gap, so water that reaches the membrane can drain down rather than being held against the concrete.
We install this type of membrane to the extent shown on the plans, secured along the top edge and lapped at seams. DELTA® is a third-party brand; Delta Concrete is not affiliated with its manufacturer. Where a project specifies a different membrane or coating, we discuss that product with the builder.
Foundation Waterproofing for New Construction
On new builds the membrane is one step in a sequence: foundation excavation, footings and walls, membrane, perimeter drain, then backfill. Having our foundation contractor crew and excavation equipment on the same project keeps that sequence in one set of hands.
We work from the concrete foundation plans and confirm membrane type and coverage before the walls are exposed for installation.
Waterproofing + Foundation Drainage
Foundation moisture management usually involves several components, and the right combination depends on the design and site. The membrane protects the wall face. The perimeter drain removes water at the base. Backfill and surface grading control how much water arrives in the first place.
Looking at these together—rather than treating the membrane as a stand-alone product—is how the parts end up working as a system.

Foundation Waterproofing & Weeping Tile
The two are related but not interchangeable. A membrane does not carry water away; weeping tile does not protect the wall surface. On most new foundations they are installed during the same open-excavation window, one after the other.
